Parts Suppliers for British Cars
Are you thinking about repairing or restoring your British sports car... but worried about finding parts?
It's often hard to find parts for them some 30 to 50 or more years after they were manufactured. However, it turns out there are a large number of after-market manufacturers as well as sources of reliable used parts.
Here are many sources for restoration and parts suppliers.

General Parts Suppliers:
Northwest Imports – Pistons, rings, Monza exhaust system and many, many other parts; great prices and helpful people; these guys drive MGBs to work and know a lot about them; always try them first, as their prices beat almost everybody else; 10042 SW Balmer, Portland, OR 97219 503-245-3806; Steve: sales@northwestimportparts.com
World Wide Auto Parts – New & rebuilt British lever shocks, New Old Stock (NOS) parts, and other current parts; good prices and helpful people; home page - http://www.nosimport.com; Peter Caldwell, 2517 Seiferth Road, Madison, WI 53716-3302; 800-362-1025, 608-223-9400; fax - 608-223-9403; Contact Us page - http://www.nosimport.com/currentform.htm; They also sell a lot on eBay.
Little British Car Company – A Moss Distributor selling anything Moss does plus many parts that are hard to find elsewhere; to use them, go to the Moss Motors site (Moss has just about everything), find the part, get the Moss part number, then go to LBCarCo’s site and enter the part number… you’ll automatically get the same part at a substantial discount. Here I got such things as engine parts, an over-length self-triggering hoot prop, gas trunk prop, MG-octagon-logo seatbelt strap pads, dash gauges & switches, neat cup holders that fold down, and a host of others. Most everything done by email, but the owner is extremely responsive and very helpful – he’s an MGB owner and driver: Jeff
Zorn, 800-637-9640, 29311 Aranel, Farmington Hills, MI 48334-2815; eMail: LBCarCo@LBCarCo.com Website: http://www.lbcarco.com/

Victoria British– Full array of parts (almost as many as Moss); very wide selection; decent prices; unhelpful & unknowledgeable customer service people; difficult to use website; GOOD catalog; 800-255-0088, 14600 W. 107th Street, Lenexa, KS 66215; http://www.victoriabritish.com/features/MG/MG-1978-MG-MGB.htm
Moss Motors– They have virtually everything; great website – I use it daily, but seldom order from them, as their prices are anywhere from 20% to 100% higher than competitors; they DO have items that nobody else has (superchargers, electronic fuel injection, and a host of others); When I find something I want from them, I get the part number, then go to Little British Car Company’s website and order it (see above). 800-667-7872 Moss Motors, Ltd., 440 Rutherford Street, Goleta, CA

BritTek – Variety of performance and regular MGB parts. I haven't bought from them, but guys I know swear by their knowledge, saying these guys all own and drive high-performance MGB's and can answer any question you have. http://www.brittek.com/index.html
Summit Racing – Miscellaneous parts & dress up items. Although they do not sell MGB-specific items, but you can get lots of “dress up” stuff there. I bought my chromed small block Chevy valve covers that I used to make the cold air intake system and the exhaust cooling cover, along with stainless hose sleeving and numerous other items, along with the oil filter relocation kit, the oil thermostat, racing fuel filter, and several other items. From them I also got fan relays that will turn my dual MGB radiator fans on independently (the after market ones available from MGB suppliers last only a few months); I also installed one on my exhaust cooling system with auxiliary fans I got from Burden’s SupplyCenter. http://www.summitracing.com/.
eBay - Overdrive Transmission & Assorted Parts: Despite what some might think, there are a host of eBay Stores that sell both used and new parts for MGB's. Many - in fact, most - give excellent service, fast delivery, and reasonable shipping charges. I have personally bought five automobiles (a 1978 MGB, a 1970 MGB, a 1968 Mustang, and two 1950 Fords), an MGB engine, two MGB transmissions, and a host of other parts. The only thing I got burned on was the Mustang (I had to put an engine, transmission, radiator, U-joints, and a brake job on it) - yet, I still made a decent profit when I sold it. I bought the overdrive transmission, the TR6 heater control (required for the cross flow head) and many, many more small parts. I have a large list of eBay stores and regular sellers for anybody who wants them.

Autogrimmig – Polished aluminum 2 ½” pipes, clamps, and air filters for cold air intake system and exhaust cooling system; eBay Store; look for “intercooler kits consisting of many straight, 22.5 degree, and 45 degree pipes as well as 2 ½” conical air filters; website http://stores.ebay.com/AutoGrimmig-Car-Parts-Accessories
Jack’s Wholesale British Auto Parts –Monroe shock conversion kit and numerous other MGB parts; great service & high integrity; eBay Store; website http://stores.ebay.com/Jacks-Wholesale-British-Auto-Parts
Local Parts Houses – Many MGB-specific items. Other places included my local parts house (Kragen, NAPA, Pepboys, etc.) for miscellaneous parts and chrome billets for my clutch & brake fluid reservoirs and my oil dipstick extension. These often carry MGB-specific parts, as well (air filters, alternators, etc) – however, if you ask them, they’ll probably tell you “No.” Ask them to go ahead and look the part up and they will often be far more surprised than you.
Hoses & Fittings – Specialized fittings & stainless steel hoses. From the local “hoses & fittings” house (in Reno, the company is actually named “Hoses & Fittings, Inc.”), I bought specialized brass parts to make British parts work with American ones (i.e., converting my oil cooler hoses to work with my oil filter relocation kit and my oil thermostat) and for numerous extensions & specials (using an “L” mounted TR6 heater control on the cross-flow head, putting a oil vapor connector on my finned aluminum valve cover, running a vacuum line from my DCOE intake manifold to the brake booster, etc. They’ll also manufacture real stainless steel hoses at about 1/5th the cost that you can buy them elsewhere.
Home Depot / Hardware Store – Specialized parts for hard-to-do engine projects. Pieces of flat and “C” aluminum (which I polished with 0000 steel wool) came from Home Depot to manufacture braces for the exhaust cooling fan and to hold the exhaust cooling and cold air intake boxes in place. I also bought many little “L” braces and nuts & blots for mounting non-standard pieces.
Bicycle Shop – Accelerator & choke cables. Nobody makes an accelerator cable long enough to reach the Weber DCOE carbs, so I had one fabricated by a local bicycle shop (using a bicycle brake cable) for the huge price of $10. Take your old cable in OR a measurement for the new one.
Burden’s Surplus
Center –
Engine fans & other electrical items. From Burden’s, I bought 12 volt fans and mini-fans for exhaust cooling system, underdash switches, and a host of other rare electrical devices. For my underhood light bar, I used a 30” piece of aluminum “C” channel (¾” x ¾”) along with two dressy truck backup lights from Burden’s, angling the light bar so that the lights point straight down when the hood is raised; the bar has a chromed toggle switch on it to turn it off for car shows. Manuals & Diagnostics Books:
Jaleen
Kaur – MGB Manual on a CD $7.98; whiile it can be a limitation trying to look things up on a computer, the big advantage is that you can use the Search function to look up a specific word or phrase. I often then print only the page or page I need, saving my Shop Manual from becoming tattered and greasy; email nansimes@yahoo.com 5255 Stevens Creek Blvd, #336, Santa Clara, CA 95051
eBay – Shop Manuals, diagnostic & trouble-shooting manuals, schematics: The best investment you can buy for your car is a Shop Manual. There are also numerous diagnostic and trouble-shooting manuals, especially for engine, carburetor, and electrical problems (some of the biggest problems you’ll have on these 30 to 50+ year-old automobiles. Just go onto eBay and do a search for: “shop, manual, trouble, [your make]”. Keep refining your search until you get a hit..

Engine & Maintenance Service:
John's British Cars- Engine R&R, Carb Tuning, Overdrive Installation: John Wassam at John's British Cars did the engine removal & replacement, the overdrive installation, tuned the carbs, performed a host of other tasks, gave an immense amount of valuable consultation, let me use a bay for a good while, loaned tools, fussed at me when I was sloppy, praised me when I helped clean his shop, provided good companionship and friendship, and was a great conversationalist. John Wassam, John's British Cars, 1000 Telegraph, #7, Reno, NV 89502; (775) 323-7767..
